Legenda Rawa Pening Bahasa Inggris

The Legend of Rawa Pening: A Story of Love and Sacrifice

In the heart of Central Java, Indonesia, lies a mystical lake called Rawa Pening. It is said that the lake is the resting place of a beautiful princess who sacrificed herself for the well-being of her people. This legend has been passed down for generations, and it still captures the imagination of those who live in the region today.

According to the legend, the kingdom of Mataram was facing a severe drought. The crops were failing, and the people were suffering. The king, desperate to find a solution, consulted his advisors. One of them suggested sacrificing the most beautiful princess in the land to appease the gods and bring rain to the kingdom.

The king was horrified by this suggestion, but he felt that he had no other choice. He called upon all the beautiful princesses in the land to present themselves to him. Among them was Dewi Supraba, the daughter of a powerful nobleman. She was known for her beauty and her kind heart.

When Dewi Supraba heard about the king’s plan, she was devastated. She knew that she would be chosen because of her beauty, and she could not bear the thought of being sacrificed. She decided to take matters into her own hands and went to the edge of Rawa Pening, where she prayed to the gods for help.

As she prayed, a handsome young man appeared before her. He told her that he was the spirit of the lake and that he had the power to grant her wish. He promised to make it rain for the kingdom, but in exchange, Dewi Supraba had to marry him and live with him in the lake forever.

Dewi Supraba was torn. She knew that if she agreed to the spirit’s proposal, she would be sacrificing her own happiness for the sake of her people. But she also knew that she could not let them suffer. In the end, she made the ultimate sacrifice and agreed to the spirit’s terms.

True to his word, the spirit made it rain, and the kingdom was saved. Dewi Supraba married the spirit and went to live with him in the lake. The people of the kingdom never forgot her sacrifice, and they named the lake after her – Rawa Pening, which means ‘Clear Swamp.’

Today, Rawa Pening is a popular tourist destination, and the legend of Dewi Supraba is still told to visitors. The lake is surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills, and it is a peaceful and serene place. The legend of Dewi Supraba reminds us that love and sacrifice are powerful forces that can bring about great change, and that we should always be willing to put the needs of others before our own.
